Hi everyone!
Following the birth of our beautiful daughter, I'm now back at work and here to help. I've updated details of the consultation services which are available and do plan to run some group classes later in the year - keep a watch on the socials for details on when they run.
Sian
Hi, I'm Sian and I have been involved in rehoming greyhounds since 2016. As a coordinator of the ACT Greyhound Support Network I have been a foster carer and also took a lead in managing rehoming efforts with my partner in crime, Cindy. Over the years I have helped in excess of 1,000 greyhounds find their homes and happiness in and around the ACT.
As well as my practical knowledge of supporting and fostering new greyhound adopters, I have completed my Cert IV in Animal Behaviour and Training through the Delta Institute. I also regularly attend training and participate in communities of practice to keep my knowledge up to date.
Snooter Brown utilises force free training methodologies. That is, methods that emphasises positive reinforcement and avoids the use of aversive methods such as physical punishment, yelling, or actions which cause fear or pain. Force free training techniques include clicker training, shaping, targeting, and capturing. The goal of force-free training is to create a positive and enjoyable learning environment for the dog, which enhances the bond between the dog and the trainer. Force-free training has been shown to be more effective in producing long-lasting behavior changes and has a lower risk of causing fear, anxiety, and aggression in dogs.
Many greyhounds have lived sheltered lives before becoming pets, and that transition can be quite overwhelming for many. Everything is new to them, and expectations and experiences in pet life are very different from the racing industry.
Snooter Brown offers a range of services to help greyhounds live their very best pet lives. These services include one on one training and behaviour sessions, group training sessions and online options for timid or reactive hounds as well as industry education to help dog walkers, dog sitters and other interested parties learn more about greyhounds.
